ABOUT US

Beginnings

The basic premise came to me in 2001, when I decided that at some point, I wanted to have my own fashion company. I have been sewing garments and accessories since grade school, and jewelry since middle school.
Over the last several years, I had been a burlesque performer in the Eugene area, and made costumes for myself and another local performer. When circumstances prevented me from continuing to dance, I went ahead and started my long-thought of business.

My Role

I do just about everything. This is on top of the sewing, sketching, beading, cutting, estimating, and model-chasing that she does.

Eugene Fashion Week Designer Bio

Hailing from Ventura, California, Jessica Stallings has been sewing for herself and others since 1995. She doesn’t make it a point to know (or care) what’s “in” at the moment—she just does. Her primary influences are her coastal hometown’s Spanish and Victorian roots, mixed with her adopted hometown’s unique “anything goes” flavor, mixed in with such aesthetics as geekery, Goth, and burlesque. La Femme Noir primarily offers custom services, along with ready-to-wear options. Past and current custom projects include a steampunk Navy necklace, Robin from the 1960s Batman series, a variation of the Star Trek: Enterprise uniform from the Star Trek Online game, and a wedding.

Static Steamworks

While Static Steamworks is technically a separate entity run by Matthew Stallings, he flies under the LFN banner. He specializes in steampunk jewelry, accessories, and costume pieces.
